The Torino Foundation was founded by Brett Torino to provide hope and life-changing experiences for the many children in Southern Nevada who are critically ill or who are living in an at-risk environment. We believe that through education, proper nutrition, outdoor activities, art and experiences in nature, people can make a difference in each life they touch. Bringing joy and hope to these children is our privilege and passion.

Each summer, the Torino Ranch is home for summer camps for hundreds of special needs children. At camp they can attend in a medically assisted environment where they can leave their worries behind. Each year, returning campers greet old friends, make new ones and are happy and secure in a caring and kind environment where their medical or life circumstances are shared with others who have the same challenges.

The reward of children shifting their focus from the daily challenges and limitations of a disabling medical condition or situation to the joy of experiencing new adventures and achievements is priceless. Dancing, singing, climbing, swimming, playing ball, canoeing, and creating a tie dyed shirt or a present for Mom, become life-long memories of freedom, happiness, smiles and joy.

In the spring of 2008, the Torino Foundation Classroom at Sunrise Children’s Hospital became a reality. The Torino Foundation classroom and outreach program impact the daily lives of critically ill children who would otherwise fall behind in their education.

Hope is going to school full time even when confined to a hospital. A child’s mind engaged and focused on growing, learning and working on the future is not dwelling on today’s medical procedure or challenge.

Moving forward, we plan to expand our education and art programs, and will continue to work with our camp and education partners toward the shared vision of Southern Nevada becoming a better place for all special needs children.

The Foundation’s commitment to the environment is demonstrated in part by our recycling program and the use of biodegradable products wherever possible. Facilities are cleaned and sanitized with products that are not harmful to the environment or caustic to our campers and students.
